No matter your skin type, chances are you’ve dealt with your fair share of breakouts. Even when we’re meticulous with our skin-care regimen, acne can still get the best of us. With breakouts come pesky whiteheads and blackheads that can be red, inflamed, and sometimes outright painful that are tricky to get rid of. They can set up shop on your face for days on end, clogging up your pores and hindering your dreams of a clear complexion. That’s when you have to pull out the stops to evict them for good — or at the very least, reduce how many times they show up unexpectedly, threatening to ruin your good skin-care days.

Of course, you can always embrace your acne and rock it proudly. However, if they tend to dampen your mood, you don’t have to let irritating bumps control your life. There are plenty of tried and true remedies to treat pimples so you no longer have to be at war with your skin. While many old-school treatments have proven to be highly effective in banishing acne in record breaking time, many of them can leave your skin dry and flaky — so you’ve essentially swapped out one annoying problem for another. And no one wants that.

Essentially, they’re hydrocolloid bandages formulated with pore-refining ingredients like vitamin A that penetrate your skin and suck out all of the grime that’s causing you to breakout. The Peace Out Pore Treatment Strips comes with eight in total, four shaped like your typical blackhead strips and four clear rectangular ones. The Acne Healing Dots are sticky clear circular shaped stickers. When you feel a pimple coming on or one (or a few) emerged on your face, plop one on or one of the long pore strips wherever a cluster of them have formed. If you have the time, you can either leave it on for four to six hours to work its magic, or overnight while getting some rest. Come morning time, peel them off to reveal smoother and clear skin.

When pimples start cropping on my face, I typically just apply a bit of benzoyl peroxide on them and they disappear in a day or two. That is if I don’t pick at it for days on end, which can leave dark marks on my face that are even more complicated and harder to get rid of. That method has been working for me for years, however, using a harsh chemical like that does leave me with dry patches that I remedy by using a rich moisturizer that I prefer not to since I already have oily skin. Peace Out’s Acne Healing Dots are a great alternative fix that doesn’t not disturb my skin moisture levels while still treating my acne. Last week, I had some tiny but annoying whiteheads on my forehead, so I stuck on some of the acne stickers atop my zits and let them go to work overnight. The next day when I took them off, they had reduced in size and were less inflamed. Thoroughly impressed by the results, I tried the acne dots once more, and to my delight, my acne had cleared completely after the second try. As a result, my makeup went on so much smoother, particularly my foundation, as it was no longer collecting around any bumps which made it looked slightly cakey.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a blackhead-flecked nose. The only thing that has ever been helpful in clearing out my nose have been facials. Those treatments can add up pretty quickly, though, and sometimes I just don’t have the budget to visit a facialist. So I’m always on the hunt for remedies I can do at home that will help me get banish these nasties annoyingly taking up space on my nose. And I found a great one in the Peace Out Pore Treatment Strips. When I first tried the one fitted for the nose, I left it on as I slept, along with one of the pore strips on my chin, another place where blackheads love to accumulate on my face. When I woke up and took both of them off, I noticed a ton of gunk and sebum on the bandage, and my chin and nose were really clear, as if I had just had some extractions done by my estheticians.

"My major breakouts always happen on my chin right as I'm getting my period. It's usually one red, raised eyesore that I either end up popping (I know, I know) or dousing in salicylic acid to no avail. This time around I used the Peace Out Healing Dots after my usual nighttime skin-care routine and then went straight to bed. By the next morning my pimple had flattened and shrunk in size with just some redness leftover. I usually don't like to wear makeup over my pimples because i feel like it actually draws more attention to the bump, but now I am able to dab on a light touch of concealer to conceal the redness and make it look like I never even had a breakout."

"I was really excited to try the Peace Out pore strips because I've had little blackheads on my nose that I've been trying to pass off as freckles forever. I tried both the nose and forehead strips which were easy to apply and comfortable to sleep in -- I almost forgot I had them on when I woke up. The first day I used them, my forehead looked super smooth and my pores were noticeably smaller. It took two nights of using the nose strips to notice a difference, but since it's such a problem area for me, I definitely wasn't expecting an overnight miracle. By day two though I did notice the sides of my nose were almost fully clear. The tip of my nose still has a way to go but this is by far the most effective pore strip I've used on my stubborn blackheads.”

Peace Out’s skin-care treatments have long been an Allure-editor favorite — in fact, despite having tested one million beauty products (a fairly accurate approximation) before coming to the publication two years ago, pimple patches were one of the few i hadn’t yet tried. Fast forward to 2019 and, thanks to our beauty reporter Devon Abelman, I nearly *always* have a sheet of these little stickers on hand in my medicine cabinet and at my partner’s house.

Beyond their practical usage, pimple patches are especially good for people like myself. I have, unfortunately, had a lifelong anxiety-induced habit of picking at my skin, meaning that as soon as I see a blemish forming on my skin, I feel an overwhelming urge to pick, poke, and prod at it. Having a little bandage to cover up the blemishes is both an effective deterrent and a way to alleviate the temptation: Since I don't want to waste the dot, I find it easier to ignore the desire to touch my face, and because I know the stickers are actually working, I don’t find myself as stressed at the idea of not taking “action” into my own literal hands.

When Peace Out debuted these stickers in 2018, I initially assumed they would work like the old-school pore strips I tried as a teen: get your face wet, put the sticker on, wait ‘til it dries, then rip them off (ouch) and hope your blackheads would stick to it without the strip itself leaving much residue. Fortunately, skin-care tech has come a long way since then, so Peace Out’s version is far less of a pain. With these, you simply apply the strip to clean skin, then go about your day for four to six hours, or apply a strip right before bed, then remove it when you wake up. I found it to be a slight motivator to clean my apartment, too, since the result is equally (if not more) satisfying than similar concepts because, upon removing the strips from my face, I noticed sebum, blackheads, and little spots of grease stuck to the bandage, but there was zero residue left over and my skin was left feeling softer and smoother.

Whether you highly prone to breakouts or get the occasional period-induced pimple, it’s always smart to have some powerful acne-fighting products at your disposal that can zap any zits that crop up on your face before they become a nuisance or multiply in number. That said, you also want to make sure whatever you’re using not only does a great job in banishing acne but doesn’t irritate your face, which can cause a host of other unwanted skin issues like redness and dryness.

Both the Peace Out Pore Treatment and Peace Out Acne Healing Dots gently extract dirt and excess sebum from your complexion all preventing new zits and blackheads from forming and protecting your skin moisture. The bandages and acne dots are super gentle to use, making them suitable for those with sensitive skin. And best of all, the formula works quickly in treating acne — perfect for busy bees looking for simple yet effective skin care.
