I recently read an article with the title “Have Acne? Best Medication Is Clean Hygiene.” This made me wonder how many other people think acne is a hygiene problem. Probably a great many, I concluded. Why else do people sometimes scrub their faces raw to try and get rid of it?

Although acne is not fatal, this usually troublesome skin condition can lead to extremely unattractive scars on the skin. There are many causes of acne and there are also different types, the most common of which is the so called acne vulgaris. While this skin condition is common among adolescents during puberty, many adults also suffer from it. Recent medical research has highlighted that there exist many more causes of acne than what was previously understood. Teenagers, specifically teenage boys, seem to be more prone to acne because of the effects of the increased levels of testosterone as they reach puberty.
