“Have Acne? Best Medication Is Clean Hygiene” – Really?
I recently read an article with the title “Have Acne? Best Medication Is Clean Hygiene.” This made me wonder how many other people think acne is a hygiene problem. Probably a great many, I concluded. Why else do people sometimes scrub their faces raw to try and get rid of it?
The truth is, acne is not related to hygiene. Although it is important to wash your face once or twice a day if you have acne, it has nothing to do with dirt.
The problem has more to do with the accumulation of sebum, the substance secreted from sebaceous glands of the skin. The plain English definition would be oils secreted by the skin. And yes, this material does need to be controlled, preferably with regular, gentle cleansing of the skin. It has nothing to do with a lack of cleanliness.

Acne, if Only It Would Go Away
Acne can be one of those little irritants and a major cause for loss of self esteem and self worth for our youth. Occurring at any age, it is frequently during your years as a teenager that acne becomes one of the most frustrating conditions you can have.
As a teenager, I personally fought with acne. I didn’t know what made it occur and there were myths all over about too much candy and chocolate, or being under stress, or preservatives in foods, excessive sweating, etc. There are probably hundreds of items of misinformation about what causes acne and a similar amount of home remedies that don’t live up to their hype.
Acne is caused by excessive oil on your skin that traps dirt and clogs your pores. If not treated, it will ultimately end in an infection, which produces the pimple and all the redness and swelling associated with it. A blackhead is simply a pore that has been partially plug by oils or dead skin but still remains open and doesn’t have an infection.
