What Causes Pimples

Pimples can have a negative effect on you that far outweighs their limited size.  Sometimes all it takes is one to make you feel self-conscious and unhappy; most often, you will end up with several pimples at a time, making things even more difficult and unpleasant.With smooth, as your goal, suddenly all that matters is finding an to your pimple problem.

What causes pimples?

To begin with, it is important to know about the day to day workings of your skin.  The surface of your skin has millions of small, hard to see openings called pores.Some of these pores can have small growing out of them, breaking out onto the .  If you were to start at the skin’s surface and slide down the pore into the deeper layers of skin, you would find several tiny glands that produce .  These glands are called sebaceous glands, and the oil they produce is known as sebum.

One function of sebum is to act as your skins natural moisturizer.  It also helps to keep the pore clean by carrying bacteria and debris (like dirt and dead skin cells) up onto the skin’s surface where it can be removed.Getting rid of dirt and dead skin cells is a natural process your body performs in order to keep your skin healthy and supple.

When hits, though, your body starts producing lots of different chemicals including hormones.  Because it is rather new at this process, it takes a while to get things all working in balance; during this time your will rise and fall a great deal, sort of like a roller coaster.Your skin has trouble dealing with such which provide an ideal environment for acne and pimples to flourish. 

Much more sebum than normal is produced by the sebaceous glands, due to the happening in your body. effect all parts of the body, but from your skin’s point of view, it can make it more difficult to shed and get rid of dead skin cells.  All of this extra sebum combined with a lot of stuck dead skin cells leads to a clogged pore where bacteria can cause this mixture to become infected and inflamed.These factors combined produce a pimple.

Important things you can do to help your pimples

You can’t do much about the natural hormonal changes occurring in your body, but there are some things you can do to help reduce the number of pimples you get:

1.    Keep your skin clean – It helps to keep your skin clean by using a mild cleanser each morning and evening.If your skin is irritated you are more likely to develop pimples. Therefore, choose a gentle facial cleanser and refrain from scrubbing your skin too harshly.
2.Use medication – Improving your skins ability to get rid of dead skin cells and limiting the amount of sebum produced are the main functions of any anti-acne medication.  Two of the best medications (available over the counter) are benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid.
3.Keep your skin moist – If your skin dries out, more pimples are very likely. Using a very light moisturizer on your face can pay dividends.Typically, an oil-free moisturizer will benefit your skin most.
